Our representative will pick you up from your hotel or cruise ship in Aswan around 5:00 AM for an early start to your journey to Abu Simbel. Setting off at dawn not only helps you avoid the midday heat but also offers a magical experience—watching the sun rise over the desert landscape. After a scenic drive of approximately three hours, we’ll arrive at the magnificent Abu Simbel temples.
Abu Simbel Temples
Abu Simbel is home to a breathtaking complex of two rock-cut temples—one dedicated to the great Pharaoh Ramses II and the other to his beloved queen, Nefertari. Carved during the reign of Ramses II, the construction took about 20 years to complete and remains one of ancient Egypt’s most awe-inspiring achievements. The temples remained buried under the desert sands until their rediscovery in the 19th century, which helped preserve them in remarkable condition.
Set against a backdrop of solid rock along the banks of the Nile, Abu Simbel’s location adds to its grandeur. While the temples themselves are impressive, what makes them even more iconic is the incredible international effort that relocated them in the 1960s to save them from submersion during the construction of the Aswan High Dam.
Your guided tour will last around two hours—plenty of time to explore both temples in detail and hear the incredible stories behind their construction, preservation, and relocation.
After the tour, we’ll make our way back to Aswan, leaving you with unforgettable memories of this extraordinary site.
